Sweet Swine O’Mine BBQ Team lead by Pit Master Mark Lambert, founder of Sweet Swine O’Mine Distributing (SSOMD) went in hot to claim seven‐time championship title on Saturday, May 14 at the 2022 Memphis in May, World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. USA Today recognizes this as the “Most Prestigious Barbecue Contest.”
The team took first place in the Shoulder competition of the Pork division, among fifty‐three teams competing in the category. Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest attracted 212 competition teams from four international countries and twenty-four states.
This is the seventh World BBQ Championship for the team led by Pit Master Mark Lambert. From knowing nothing about cooking barbecue to a seven‐time world Champion Pit Master of #BBQKnowHow – Mark welcomes each day as another day to sharpen his skills and perfect the barbecue experience that people from all over the world have come to respect and highly regard.
Lambert is a leading worldwide Pit Master. He uses his technical expertise to not only develop products, but also people. Recognized as the originator of Sweet Swine O’Mine (SSOM) rubs, sauces and cookers, Mark invests substantial amounts of time coaching, consulting, teaching classes and mentoring aspiring pit masters.
To whom much is given, much is expected. So, with his seventh World BBQ Championship, Mark desires to use this as a platform to be a catalyst and influencer to aspiring pit masters, “It is not only the technical expertise and grill or smoker, but remaining humble and aware is what leads you to greatness,” shared Lambert.
